WOW #74: Getting the Buppies Ready for Christmas

Blogger's Note:  This is actually Bimmer's show, but before we begin, I just want to say "A Tail of Two Rescues"  Turbo's and Zuda's love story is currently being rewritten as a children's book.  We hope to publish it sometime next year with all proceeds going to Rescue charities.

Now without further ado, I will turn the blog over to Princess Bimmer who is getting all the buppies (Bassets' and friends' parlance for little puppies) ready for Christmas.  Bimmer's Buppies are available in our store at Sir Bentley Art on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/SirBentleyArt/app_251458316228 along with lots of other wonderful stuff.  Take it away Bimmer!

Thank you Sir Bentley!  Welcome Everyone!  We are rehearsing our Christmas Song.  These little Buppies all want homes of their own and will go up for adoption soon. (Watch the Bimmer's Buppies tab on Sir Bentley Art) Before they're all adopted and go to their new homes, we wanted to share our special Christmas performance with you.

Buppies?  Are you ready?

Buppies:  Yes Miss Bimmoo!

Bimmer:  Good!  Ronald, you may begin.

Ronald:  (in a whisper) On the first day of Christmas my buppy gave to me....

Bimmer:  Wait Ronald!  You forgot to come out on stage.  Also, remember that the audience has to be able to hear you.

Ronald:  Sowwy Miss Bimmoo. (runs out on stage)

Ronald:  (shouting)  ON THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY BUPPY GAVE TO ME:  A BACON BURGER WITH SOME CHEESE!!!!

Bimmer: (holds ears) That's much better Ronald, but try not to scream, you might scare the audience.  Okay, Mary Jane?  Your turn.

Mary Jane:  Coming!  (climbs up on podium)

Mary Jane:  (at just the right volume) On the second day of Christmas, my buppy gave to me:  Two Frosty Milkshakes!  (whispers to audience) This strawberry one is yummy!

Bimmer:  Wait Mary Jane!  Don't drink them yet!  Very good singing though!  Ronald do it just like that.

Ronald:  And a bacon burger with some cheese!

Bimmer:  PERFECT Ronald!  Keep doing it that way!  Whew!  I'm exhausted!  We'll do day 3 and day 4 tomorrow.  Everyone take a rest!

A Tail of Two Rescues: Part 4

Part 4:  Dinner With the Family
Blogger’s note:  I would like to joyfully announce that my beautiful sister-in-law to be, Zuda is now co-writing this story with me!  It will be so great now that her part is being told in her own voice!  I know you’ll LOVE it!  So now let’s get on with the story!

Turbo:

I hurried around the house, nervously checking the clock every few seconds.  I was going to be late for dinner with Zuda’s family if I didn’t leave, SOON!

“Hey Turbo,” said Bimmer coming up behind me and making me jump,  “shouldn’t you be going soon?  You have dinner with Zuda’s family today you know.”

“I know,” I agreed pacing back and forth, “I’m TRYING to get ready now, but I can’t find my lucky bow tie.  The red one, you know.”

“OH!” said Bimmer sheepishly, “I’m sorry Turbo.  L E Phant borrowed it for my tea party.  We didn’t think you’d mind.”

“I don’t mind,” I said in relief, “as long as I can have it now.”

“Oh you can, you can!” Bimmer promised, “I’ll go get it now.”  She raced off and in a minute I heard L E trumpeting so I figured she was getting my tie.  She came back giggling and said, “he did that the other day when Mummy washed and dried him.  He didn’t like the dryer AT ALL and it scared Mummy and me.  We didn’t know he still made that noise!”

“Uh, yeah,” I said absently as I put on my tie.  “Does this look okay?”

Bimmer studied me and then straightened the tie a little.  “There!” she told me, “now it’s perfect !  Zuda will love it!  So will Daddyman!”
Aunt Angie, who was spending the day with us looked up from the pillow she was making for Aunt Maralynn and remarked, “Daddyman!  I always picture him with a big ‘D’ on his chest.  With sparkles,” she added returning her attention to her work.  Aunt Angie would put sparkles on EVERYTHING if she could!  I was surprised she hadn’t incorporated them into that pillow.  She looked up again, “you look very handsome Turbo.”

“Thanks Aunt Angie,” I said, then I looked around, ready to go.  “Where are my keys?”

Bentley jumped up.  “The KEYS!” he exclaimed and raced over to the dining room table.  “I was using them for my new hobby.  I’m making a clay figure of my Queen on her pink comforter.  I hope she likes it!”

“Bentley!” said Mom, coming in from the kitchen with her water. “You don’t use car keys that way!  What would your Uncle Boss Man say?”  She took the keys and wiped them off then she gave them to me.  “Be careful Turbo and don’t be nervous!  Who wouldn’t love you?”  She gave me a kiss and I started for the door.

“Wait Turbo!” called Aunt Angie, “don’t forget your flowers!”  She hurried into the refrigerator room and brought them back to me.

“Thanks Aunt Angie,” I said for the second time.  “Thanks Mom.  Bye Bentley, bye Bimmer!”  I raced out to the car and started off.  The whole trip, I rehearsed what I should say when I talked to Mommadog and Daddyman.  Should I call them ma’am and sir?  Probably, that would be respectful, and I wanted them to know I had good “Southern Gentleman” manners!

Before I knew it, I was at Zuda’s house.  I gulped and picked up my flowers, straightened my tie and headed for the front door.

The day Turbo came for dinner I was so nervous!  I had helped Mommadog prepare da menu, bacon cheeseburglers, bacon cheese potatoes and bacon cheese broccoli.  We had bacontinis for when he arrived but Mommadog let me make the desert myself, Bacon Alaska.  Turbo arrived in his beautiful bow tie and brought flowers; not only for me but also for Mommadog!

Dinner went well if you don’t count the snickers and giggles of my sisters, Lil Butt and Abby!  After dinner we all went in the yard looking for furry creatures and I tried to show him my best tracking technique.  As momma dog and my sisters cleaned up, Daddyman and Turbo went into da other room for da ‘talk’.  His look said “SAVE ME” but he walked in confidently.  Before I knew it the TV was on, first on sports, then on horse racing and Turbo was standing on the hassock barking at the horses and lastly I heard dem laughing to a movie called “Best in Show.”

Later Turbo and I took a walk and Mommadog and her wig and binoculars stayed home, thank goodness!  Although I could swear I saw a man with an awful toupee and binoculars watching us…jeeeeesh!  We went in for dessert and when Daddyman lit the bacon Alaska...

….well, it’s a good thing he be bald…NOW he is just missing a few eyebrow hairs!

Before he left Turbo asked me what one of my favorite places was and I responded St. Michaels.  He asked me if he could take me there the following weekend and of course I said YES! Turbo headed home and I walked into da room and told Daddyman and Mommadog that I never thought this would happen to me but….he is da one!!!

Not to be outdone, Abby ran into da room and asked Daddyman if she could ask Charlie B. Seavers (that red hot houndie) out on a date….Daddyman fainted!!

To be continued…(How will Turbo get them to St. Michaels?  What will happen there?  Will Zuda still think Turbo is da one?  Will Daddyman recover from his faint and his eyebrow disaster?  What will Charlie B. Seavers say?? Tune in next week!)

A Tail of Two Rescues: Part 3

Part 3:  That Romantic First Date
It doesn’t seem that long ago that I was getting ready for my first date with the wonderful and studly Turbo.  Of course, it wasn’t as perfect as I planned. Mommadog insisted that Turbo meet me at home and not at the bar.  (She wanted to check him out.)  Turbo was (naturally) very nice about it and said he’d love to meet Mommadog.  Of course, that was before I found out she planned to chaperone the date!  Really Mommadog!  You act like I’m a puppy sometimes!  My sisters and I watched from the window for Turbo to arrive.  I was SOOOO nervous!

Fortunately, Turbo arrived in his red convertible, the one that was named after him!  There were only two seats, no room for Mommadog!  Woot woot!  Mommadog seemed to like Turbo and she agreed we could go without her.

We didn’t notice right away how she and Lily and Abby were acting so funny, sneaking things out to a strange car and all…

We took off in Turbo’s car and it was a beautiful day.  I let my ears blow in the breeze.  It was so much fun!  We drove for a while but it seemed no time at all before Turbo was stopping at an ice cream stand.  He’s such a gentleman!  We had single dips of bacon flavored ice cream.  You should have seen the other customer stare!  You’d have thought he’d never seen two dogs get out of a red convertible and buy ice cream before!  Hmmmph!

It was about that time that I noticed an odd lady in a crooked wig watching us through binoculars.  THEN I saw two dogs wearing those disguise glasses with the moustache and big nose. Double Hmmmph!  I ignored them and hoped Turbo wouldn’t notice.

Once we were driving again, I saw those suspicious characters following along behind and you can’t imagine such driving!  They were all over the road, it’s a wonder we weren’t all killed!  I think Abby was driving so Mommadog could keep those binoculars trained on Turbo and me.

“Uh Turbo,” I said, “do you see a strange lady with crooked wig and sunglasses driving erratically behind us?”
Turbo smiled at me.  “They’ve been back there the whole way.  I think one of your sisters is driving,” he told me.
“How embarrassing!”  I tried to think of things I could throw at the other car, but other than our picnic basket, there wasn’t anything handy.

“They must not realize I have 540HP in this car that they designed and named after me. I don't want your mommadog  to worry, though, so I'm letting them stay within sight...” chuckled Turbo.

I sighed, “please tell me your family is crazy too!”

“Of course they are!” said Turbo, “I guess it’s just part of being a family.  I’m lucky to have one though.  You know, I’m a rescue.”

“You ARE?” I cried.

“Yes,” said Turbo.  “And after I was rescued, my mom found me and adopted me.  I sure was glad to get a home and I sure was lucky to get such a good one!”

“Me too!”  I told him, “I’M a rescue too!”

“Really?  Wow, that’s something we have in common!  Looks like you got a good family too.”

“Oh I really did!  They embarrass me sometimes, like NOW,” I glared in the direction of the other car, “but they’re the best!”

Turbo glanced over and smiled at me and I smiled at him and it was…MAGIC.  I knew then that I wanted to spend all my time with Turbo, forever.

“This looks like a good place for our picnic,” said Turbo pulling off to the side of the road.  Opening the door for me, he asked, “would you like to take a walk first?”

“I’d love to,” I smiled, “all those beautiful leaves!  How romantic!”

It wasn’t long though before we were hungry and we started back to the car, BUT WHEN WE GOT THERE…. “Oh NO!”  I cried, “SOMEONE has taken the bottle of wine I put in my picnic basket!”  I glared around the picnic area looking for the culprits.  I KNEW who it was, of course!

“Never mind, Zuda,” Turbo told me soothingly.  He reached into a compartment I hadn’t seen before and pulled out….a
bottle of CHAMPAGNE!!

“Oh Turbo!” I sighed, “you think of EVERYTHING!”  Turbo blushed and smiled and we spread our blanket on the grass and unpacked all the bacon delights that I brought along for us.  While we were enjoying our feast, I said, “Turbo, Mommadog asked me to invite you to dinner next week.  Can you come?  Daddyman will be there then and he really wants to meet you.”

Turbo gulped his last bite.  Then he said, “I’d love to meet your daddyman Zuda.  I never had a daddy myself though so I hope I’ll know how to act.”

“Oh you’ll love Daddyman!”  I told him, “he takes such good care of us all.  We take care of him too of course.  He’s very kind, I’m sure you two will get along great.”
“Well, of course, if he’s YOUR daddy, I’m sure I’ll like him too,” agreed Turbo and then we snuggled together on the blanket to watch the sunset.

To Be Continued…(Will Turbo like Daddyman?  Will Daddyman like TURBO??  What will Mommadog serve to eat?  How will Zuda control her overprotective Mommadog at the dinner???  Tune in next week!)
